The story of industrious person (part 6)

When the widow knew the story, she cried. She gave him a hug and rubbed the herbal essence on Ayyakala the black ox whom she took very good care of. She kept assuming that he was her son, not an animal that was petted just like any other men did.
The widow said" Ayyakala, my son, even though you're just a beast, you have a good heart. You're grateful. Come here, son. I'll massage you with the essential oil, so you can relieve your tiresome"
Many years later, the widow and the black ox passed away from the human world, but they still bound and supported each other later in other lives, just everyone who meets and supports the friend nowadays.

In the advent of the Buddha, the widow became Pra Ubolvanna, the womanelder .
Ayyakala, the black ox turned to be the lord Buddha.

The scriptural verses of the Jataka:-
"Yago Yago Garu Dhuram Yago
Gambhiravaggani Gahasasu Kanhi Yunjanti
Savasasu Gam Vahage Dhuram"
= Any place where there was a heavy burden.
Any place where there was a distant path.
People could yoke Kanha the ox at right there.
For Kanha the ox could haul the luggage.

The story of industrious person (part 5)

Once there were some wagons  getting stuck in mud. The merchant's ox and crews couldn't pull the up. The merchant announced for help with the reward of 1,000 coins of money.

At the time, the cowboy made an agreement with him. He took the merchant to see Ayyakala the strong black ox.
The merchant said that " Is this Ayyakala the strong black ox that you told me?"
The cowboy said " Yes, it is. Ayyakala is the greatest ox of our village. You talk to him nicely and pay him just like you announced. I guarantee that Ayyakala can haul the whole caravan of wagons."

The merchant was satisfied with Ayyakala's excellent appearance, so he did everything the cowboy told him.
When reaching the wagons that got stuck in mud, the grateful black ox, Ayyakala gathered his strength and hauled the wagons without being discouraged in the number of the wagons . He was diligent to pay back the widow's favor with his life.

The people who gathered and watched, were very excited by Ayyakala's effort and cheered him up.
The cowboy said to the ox. "Go for it, Ayyakala the mighty. Pull it harder. I know you can  do it."
A woman shouted  that "The wagons are moving. Ayyakala pulled harder"
A man said to the woman that "Well, you're cheering Ayyakala up, aren't you? I thiunk  you're delivering  a baby. I'm so frightened."
Suddenly, the caravan of wagons started to move. Finally, the caravan of wagons was pulled up from mud. The ox was praised by the villagers and got paid by the merchant.

Although, he was very tired, Ayyakala, the black ox attempted to go to see the widow and gave her the money. On the way, he had to rest many times because he used up his strength.

The story of industrious person (part 4)

Later, at Vihara Jetavana, when the monks described the Buddha's greatest power, the Buddha recited the past when he was born as a strong back ox that...
"Hear me, Monks. In the past, I was just a beast but I could do the thing no one could do. When the monks asked him to tell that story, the Buddha recollected his previous life, and told Kanha Jataka.

Once, far away from Benares, there was a poor widow who earned her life by sharing her house to the travelers who wanted to spend the night for rent and taking care of them for some wages.

Once, she received a little black calf as a rent. The tenant said to her that "I have no money. Would you take this black calf for a rent?"
Once she laid her eyes on him, the widow was tender toward the calf, so she received and looked after him.

Soon the black calf grew up and became the young ox. He was big, strong and full of muscle. The widow called the ox.... Ayyakkala which meant the old woman's ox. She said to him that " Come on. Eat the grass, Ayyakkala, my beloved son. The more you grow up, the more adorable you are."

Although  Ayyakkala, the black ox was just a beast, he love and appreciated in the widow's mercy. He always tried to pay back her favor. There was a cowboy who understood him finding the job of dragging. No matter how heavy the luggage was, Ayyakkala the black ox attempted to drag it until the job was done easily.

The cowboy said " Come on, Ayyakkala, my friend. Just drag it. You're as strong as an elephant. No, no. Correct. You're as strong as an ox."
After finishing a job of dragging, there always was a bag of wages tied up with his leg for his favorable widow.
She said " Well, Ayyakkala, you bring the money for me again. Ayyakala, you work so hard and hauls the luggage all day long. you must be very tired. Come here, son. I'll bathe you and feed you with some fresh grass."

The story of industrious person (part 3)

Puranakassapa, the tricky heretical teacher, also collected money from public to build a high tower at the center of the maneuvering site. He said that "There's no mango tree left for you to show the super power. All you will see is my high tower. I want to see what he's gonna do. Will he still be stubborn to compete with me or just surrender easily?"
His adherent said that " He has the high tower compatible to his prestige. He's so cool."

On the full moon day of the 8th month which was the day of competition, the monks begged the Lord Buddha for his permission to let them compete with the herewtical teacher on behalf of him. Even some lay devotees show off their power and asked the Buddha for his permission to compete.
A monk said " My Lord, let me do the miracle on behalf of you. Let me be your representative . So your honour won't be disgraced.
Another monk said " I can fly . Let me compete with him, I'll subdue that cunning heretical teacher, so he can beware of his status"

However, the Lord Buddha refused. " Hear me, Monks. This is the nature of every Buddha to manifest a miracle at this place just once after being enlightened and announcing Buddhism. It is the burden that a Buddha like me should do it myself."
At that time.King Kosol's garden keeper offered him a ripe mango. The Buddha accepted and ate it, then he took the seed to the empty yard near the heretical teacher's high tower. Then he poured the water from his hand on that seed. Suddenly, the mango seed gradually sprouted its leaves and budded its top.

The sprout grew higher and higher rapidly. It branched and became a big mango tree surprisingly. The tree blossomed and yielded fruits. When they were ripe, the people in the garden offered them to the monks and the people all over Savatthi.

A woman said that " Ha ! How is that possible?  It's unbelievable. It's so amazing. Since  I was born, I just see it today."
A  man said " How's that, the heretical teacher? Your never saw something like tat"

At that time, the Hopea tree post of the heretical tower was shaking and collapsed before their eyes. It embarrassed the adherents of another religion so much. They  slipped away from the yard in front of the wall of Savatthi . Even Puranakassapa, the leader admitted in the Lord Buddha's Perfections and slipped away. No one ever saw him again."

The adherent said that " Well, we completely lose, It's a disaster. You look so pale likes this, Who can you confront?"
Another adherent said " So do you. It's shameful. We've been bragging too much"

At that time, it was the time of the grate Teacher's Twin Miracle . He stood on his feet and gradually soared up to the air, then coming the holy water from the sky , and the ray of light shining from his body.
The Buddha lighted up all over the capital of Kosol Region with the 6 rays of colors. Then his body vanished into the air.

At the time Pra Anurukha, the elder who was excellent in celestial eyes said that " Now the Buddha goes to Tavatimesa in order to preach his mother who became the diety in the realm of Tusita that is 2 stages higher. After  3 months, the Buddha will come back to the world at the gateway of Sankassa."

A woman said " It's so amazing. The Buddha vanished before my eyes."
A man said " Amen ! It's been the first time I see it since I was born."
Just like Pra Anurudha's words, the return of the Buddha arose the significant miracle.
The Buddha created the ray of Dhamma that shone over the world. The miracle disclosed the 3 worlds of heaven, underworld and human world and let them see one other. It eliminated the suspicion in the round of existence, created the good will and the right understanding at that time.

The story of industrious person (part 2)

The adherents of another religion said that "The Buddha prohibited his disciples from showing off the superhuman power. He would never break his rule and accept my challenge. Go for it, Boss. Now, it's my turn. Well. Boss, what are you gonna show off?" someone of their adherents said that "Right ,right. I don't know what power you're having."

The news was spreaded so fast. Soon, it was realized by King Bimbisan. He was very anxious. So he came to have an audience of the Great Teacher. However, He became surprised, when the Blessed One accepted the challenge of the adherent of another religion.
King Bimbisan said that " Your Majesty, Puranakassapa, the heretical teacher is so arrogant. He finds a chance to challenge you because he wants to disgrace your honour."
The Buddha said " If that's what Puranakassapa wants. I'll accept his challenge"

The king asked " But, My Lord, if you accept it, will it revoke your own word?"
The Buddha replied "Hear me,  Your Majesty. I prohibited my disciples from showing off the superhuman power. I didn't to show them the miracle"
The king said" Well, I get it. It's like when you forbid anyone from picking up fruits in the garden, it means you forbid the others"
The Buddha said " You get it right Your Majesty. On a full moon day of the 8th month,I'll show off the miracle at Samavatthi city, Kosol Region"

King Bimbisan knew that the place was the site where every Buddha used to showed off the super human power. So, he no longer disputed.

When the tricky heretical teacher knew that the Buddha accepted his challenge, he was surprised because he never expected that. Once, he knew that the Buddha would show off  his power by mango, he gathered his men and cut down every mango tree in Savatthi
Puranakassapa said that " Hey! I never thought that6 the Buddha would accept my challenge easily. Anyway, it' good. Well, he'll use a mango to show his power. won't he?"
One of his adherents said that" Right. It makes me confused. How can he use a mango to show his miracle?"
Puranakassapa said "Whatever ! You guys, gather our men and cut down every mango trees in Savatthi."
His adherents said " Right away. Anything with strength, just tell me. But if it's about the brain, it'll cause a headache. Hey! guys. Let's go."
Others said "Cut,cut it down. Cut them all down. Done .Even the small ones, I cut them down."

The story of industrious person (part1)

Within the great kingdom of Magoth Region, there were various items of greatness and importance of Buddh
ism. One of them was Pra Veluvan Temple, the first temple of Buddhism that was built in this territory.

The principle Teaching that the Lord Buddha demonstrated to 1,250 noble disciples and many of the discourses were taken place at this temple.
In addition, the discipline that disallowed the monks to show off the super human state which was the prohibition of bragging or showing off any miracle which can be seen in the present day was also prescribed by The Great Teacher at this temple.

At the time, there was an Arahat who could soar by supernatural power. He was seen by the people of Rajagraha. That caused the rumour and the panic among the crowd.
After the Buddha  realized the story, he had the monks assembled at Vihara Jetavana and asked his younger brother, Venerable Ananda, about the cause of it. Now there was an Arahat showing off his supernatural power and panicking the crowd. Who's the disciple doing that thing?
"The monk who showed of  his super power is Pra Pindola, My Lord. He soared up to take the sandal wood alms bowl at the top of the tree in order to show Rajagaha, the rich man the supernatural power of the Buddhist Arahat."
But when he caused the confusion to the crowd, The Lord Buddha reproached Pra Pindola, the former mighty Brahman. The Buddha prescribed the disciplinary rule of disallowing the monk to show off the superhuman state.
As well, he, since then, forbade the monks from using any alms bowl but the iron or the baked clay one.

At that time , the adherents of another religion who had bad intention to Buddhism knew the story, so they had the idea of disgracing the Lord Buddha's honour. They spreaded the news and challenged the Buddha to compete them to show off the super human power.

They had Puranakassapa as their leader who announced to follow and to challenge the Buddha everywhere.
